Hiatus

Hey Y’all. In case you didn’t notice, I wanted to let you know that I recently deactivated my social media accounts.  I have been experiencing some anxiety and depression related feelings, and I am trying to eliminate any possible negatives in my life that could be adding to these emotions.  I am taking this time to focus on myself and also my relationship with Coach. I do not have a time frame of how long this will be.

In the bottom right corner of my site should be a follow button. I am not sure how often I’ll be posting right now, but click that button to stay up to date on my post!

Time to CEE Change: Fixed Nutrition

I am a firm believer that when it comes to getting fit what you consume is the driving force in reaching your goals… unless you have some awesome metabolism and are lucky enough to eat all my favorite things such as pizza, carbs, ice cream, wine, etc. and not gain a pound. Unfortunately for me, I can’t do eat those things (beside in moderation) without it all going straight to my love handles, thighs, and a$$.

I don’t believe in diets such as Keto, Atkins, Weight Watchers… you catch my drift. I don’t want to offend anyone, believe me, that is not my intention what so ever, and perhaps “believe” isn’t the right word. Ultimately, I just feel that if you are eating clean and filling your body with nutrients, you don’t need to cut certain things out. I just wanted to share what I have been doing the last few weeks in regards to my nutrition. It’s simply what works for me! If other stuff works for you, that’s amazing, and you do you.

54F41AFE-5798-4B9B-9842-237C4B86ED64

I don’t count my calories, but what I have been doing is fixed nutrition or in other words portion control so I am eating within a certain number of calories. I am not trying to sell you on Beachbody, but for me the 21 Day Fix Containers have been working great.  When you purchase the containers, they come with a book that gives you all the information and how to determine what bracket you are in.  For me I eat around a 1,200-1,500 calories a day. I get two carbs, two fruits, four proteins, three veggies, one healthy fat, two teaspoons of oils/butters, and one container of seeds/dressings. All of these fit into color coded containers so I know what I am eating and how much I am suppose to eat.

Fix Nutrition Explained

In a short summary, I wanted to share what I have been eating on a regular basis.  I have to admit that I have been doing awful on the weekends, but I am well aware that I need to buckle the heck down! Monday through Friday I am proud to say I am doing pretty well.

AM: oatmeal, a fruit, tsp. of peanut butter and a protein

Typically, I do half a banana or berries in my oatmeal mixed with the PB. I hard boil eggs and have two with my oatmeal.  Sometimes Coach has AM workouts, and will come home before I leave and make me eggs. I’m a lucky girl 😉 I have tried egg whites in my oatmeal mixed with a banana and that also is very good! You can find that recipe on Pinterest. Just type in egg white oatmeal.

AM Snack: Shakeology mixed with spinach and sometimes a fruit

If I don’t put a fruit in my shake, I will eat it for lunch.

Lunch: Over the last few weeks, I have done taco salad, lettuce turkey wraps, and this week I am doing chili!

PM Snack: veggie and sunflower seeds

If I know I’ll be eating a salad, I won’t have seeds because I save my orange container for the dressing.

Dinner: Varies!

Over the last few weeks we have had zuchinni boats, chicken salsa, turkey breast tenderloin with a veggie, meatloaf, stuffed peppers, sloppy joes, etc. Basically it is a meat, veggie and sometimes a carb.

BB296B1D-209D-471E-94A0-C2AB7C1ED975

What I like most about the fixed nutrition is that I am still eating everything I like to eat, just in right amounts! If anything, I struggle to eat all of the containers that I am suppose to.  It’s a lot of food honestly, but it’s the “right” food. I am HUGE on if you don’t eat enough, you’ll never lose.  We are lucky to live in a generation where Pinterest and Google gives us so many ideas on healthy options and great recipes.  If you have any questions, comments, etc. please let me know!

I can’t stress enough that this is just what works for ME (and thousands of other people). It doesn’t mean it is for everyone though. AGAIN, YOU DO YOU. When it comes down to it though, I feel that one of the biggest reasons with obesity is the fact that we don’t know how much we should be eating because we live in a country where everything is super size! Don’t get me wrong, I love America more than anyone, but I think we can all agree that our portions are a problem.

Time to CEE Change: Workout Wednesday-HIIT

I am now on week three of my “pre” half-marathon training.  Part of my schedule includes HIIT or “High Intensity Interval Training.” Very simply put, HIIT is workouts that raise your heartbeat by you giving all your effort for a short period of time, and then resting for a brief time frame. I can fully admit that I have a problem with knowing what’s good and not good for me, such as certain foods and different exercises to do, but not knowing the science behind them.  I am lucky to be surrounded by a lot of educated people who have done extensive research on health and fitness.  I usually just don’t take the time to find out the “why.”

I was looking up information on HIIT workouts because I do know that it is effective. I wanted to share with you an awesome blog post I had found that really explains everything about it!

HIIT Workouts How-To: The Science, Benefits, and Workouts You Can Do Today

The workout I did today was:

Warm Up 1/2 mile-Sprint 60 seconds, Jog 60 seconds (Repeat 5x)-Cool Down 1/2 mile

If I’m being honest, I am still working on gaining my strength back and increasing my speed so I walked in between the sprints instead of jogging.  No denying that my heart rate was UP though.

35BFDF7E-ADC3-4707-8077-C647176011D7

I spoke with my trainer today, and she made a few great points in regards to HIIT.  The workouts are short and intense.  Whether you work full time, your husband is a coach or in the military, you’re just busy with your kiddos or all of the above…these workouts are super efficient! Contact me if you want more information on training. XX

Time to CEE Change: Crock-Pot Meals

If you’re anything like me, your heart is completely shattered after watching the most recent episode of “This Is Us.” As much as I want to curse that damn crock-pot, in it’s defense, it was like 17+ years old, and when it was given to Jack and Rebecca, the sweet old man informed them that it was fidgety.

Crock-Pot released a technical statement that read:

“Crock-Pot understands the concerns brought up by last night’s episode of This Is Us, and we too are heartbroken by the latest development in Jack’s storyline. However, it is important that our consumers understand and have confidence that all Crock-Pot slow cookers exceed all internal testing protocols and all applicable industry safety standards and regulations as verified by independent third-party testing labs. For nearly 50 years, with over 100 million Crock-Pots sold, we have never received any consumer complaints similar to the fictional events portrayed in last night’s episode. In fact, the safety and design of our product renders this type of event nearly impossible.”  With all of that said, I am by no means responsible if something happens with your Crock-Pot while preparing any of the meals I have listed for you.

I love Jack as much as I love my Crock-Pot. Coach and I use it at least one to two times a week. I work forty minutes from our home, but Coach is  only thirty seconds so he’ll come home for a hot second, and throw everything in the Crock-Pot. It’s so convenient to be able to come home, and dinner basically be ready to serve!

Southwest Chili

(Recipe given to me by my Minot BFF aka top 3 best cook I know)

1 lb ground turkey
3 cloves of garlic
1 onion chopped
1 can whole kernel corn
1 can black beans
1 can kidney beans
1 small can tomato paste
2-3 c chicken or beef broth (depending on consistency)
1 can petite diced tomatoes with green chiles
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cayenne
1 tablespoon cumin
Salt and pepper, to taste

Directions:

Cook the ground turkey meat

Dump everything else into Crock-Pot

Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6-8 hours.

Add additional toppings such as green onions, tortilla chips, plain greek yogurt as a sour cream substitute, cheese or cilantro

Chicken and Dumplings

(Not exactly “healthy,” but better than spending money and eating at a restaurant where you are unsure of what is going into your meal. Portion control is key here!)

4 boneless/skinless chicken breast

1 onion, finely diced

2 cans of cream of chicken soup (unhealthy part-try to get low sodium or fat free)

2 small packages of biscuits

Add as many vegetables as desired-celery, carrots, peas, green beans, corn

Directions:

Place chicken in Crock-Pot with soup, onion, vegetables and enough water to cover the chicken

Cook for 5-6 hours on high

About 30 minutes prior to serving, break up biscuits and drop them into Crock-Pot

Allow those to sit in Crock-Pot with the lid secured for the remaining time

*I did see some recipes with chicken broth and ways to make the biscuits homemade with wheat flour. This may be an even better option, but on a cold day, this is one of my favorite meals.

Zucchini Lasagna

(Recipe found on slowcookergourmet.net)

2-3 zucchini’s depending on size

1-2 teaspoons of salt

24 oz of marinara sauce (no sugar added or homemade preferred)

15 oz ricotta cheese (when I make any kind of lasagna, I like to do half ricotta and half cottage cheese)

8 oz provolone, shredded

8 oz mozzarella, shredded

1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese

fresh basil for garnish

Directions:

Slice zucchini lengthwise into 1/4 inch thick strips

Place zucchini in a large colander over a bowl or over the sink and sprinkle well with 1 teaspoon of salt

Let sit for at least 20-30 minutes and then cover with a paper towel and gently press out at much water as you can and pat them dry

If they still seem to have a lot of water, add a little more salt and repeat

Add about 1/2 cup marinara in bottom of slow cooker, then layer about 1/3 of the noodles, cheeses (except parmesan) and more sauce until you have 3 layers

Top with remaining sauce, cheese and and parmesan cheese

Cover and cook on high for 2-3 hours or low for 4-6 until “noodles” are tender

Remove cover and let sit for about 15-20 minutes before slicing and serving with fresh basil

Chicken Salsa

4 chicken breast

jar of salsa (I try to buy an organic kind or one made fresh)

can of corn

can of black beans

2 tsp of chili powder

1 tsp of cumin

*If you want an extra kick, add hot green chilies

Directions:

Place chicken into the Crock-Pot

Drain corn and black beans

Add corn and black beans to Crock-Pot

Pour Salsa and seasonings over the chicken, corn and beans

Cook for 4 hours on high or 6 to 8 on low

Before serving shred chicken with a fork

Serve over rice, on a tortilla, or on lettuce

Random things we do with our Crock-Pot…

Spaghetti Squash

Cut in half (like a hamburger)

Pour a very thin layer of olive oil into the Crock-Pot

Place spaghetti squash face down

Cook four 4 hours on high or 6 on low

Once cooked, take the squash out and with a fork scrap out the squash

Serve with a homemade or low in sugar pasta sauce

Turkey Breast Tenderloin

Aldi’s has a turkey breast tenderloin or even lean pork tenderloins that are already seasoned. All you have to do is place a small amount of olive oil in the Crock-Pot then place the tenderloin into the Crock-Pot. Cook on high for 5 hours. Serve with rice and vegetables.

Time to CEE Change: Workout Wednesday (SBS Edition)

I get it. The Super Bowl is still four days away, but with wanting to keep some consistency with my Monday Meals and now Workout Wednesday, I have to share some ways to incorporate working out while watching the big game.

If I am being honest, I can’t promise that I’ll be participating in this workout, however, I am scheduled to run four miles that day! We could easily sit home and be hermits because of wanting to stay on track with our health, but Coach and I were invited to watch the game with the coaching staff so that is our plan is the game. They may think I am nuts if I were to start working out in the middle of their living room. If you are in the comfort of your own home though, I highly suggest you take part in this fun little workout I have for y’all. Lifting a beer or chip to your face does NOT count as a workout by the way!

The work out is simple as this. When you see the things listed, do them.

Touchdown– As many push-ups as the team that scored has

Field Goal– 5 burpees

First Down– 10 arm dips

False Start or Off sides– 20 jumping jacks

Interception– 15 squats

Time Out– Chug a bottle of water

Sack– 30 crunches

Personal Foul– 30 second plank

Fumble– 20 bicycle crunches

Flag– 20 mountain climbers

Coach Challenge– Wall sit for duration of review

Beer Commercial– 10 lunges on each leg

Movie Trailer– High knees for the duration

Commercial with an animal– 20 bridges

Eagles Win– Your finished

Patriots Win– Sprint a mile

Can y’all believe that football season will officially be over Sunday?! Well, at least games on Sunday. Any coach’s wife/girlfriend knows though that football season really is a three hundred and sixty-day gig.

Anyways, I am so excited to be sharing “healthier Super Bowl Sunday food options” with you. Although the game is still six days away, I figured it’d be best to give you some time throughout the week to hit up the grocery store! Before I give a few recipes, I want to first mention a few tips when attending or hosting a Super Bowl Party while trying to stay on track with your health and fitness.

1.) WORKOUT before attending the party

By working out before attending, your mind will remind you when you want to eat that unhealthy appetizer that you put in a lot of hard work so don’t cancel it all out!

2.) Drink lots of water throughout the day

On the Super Bowl and every other day! It will help you feel fuller, and of course, it’s a much better option than a beer or pop. Never forget that WATER IS YOUR FRIEND.

3.) Don’t starve yourself all day then binge

100% guilty of this, but it’s totally not a good idea. Your body needs nutrients! I can also promise you that you’ll be wanting to fall asleep by halftime…or maybe you’ll be wanting to do that anyway just because we all know who will win. #rigged 😉

4.) Consider having something filling/nutritious prior

For me this means Shakeology! It curves cravings and is a treat within itself!

5.) Limit your servings

Also 100% guilty of NOT doing this. I have terrible self-control, and it’s something I am desperately working on. Dreaming of the day I can practice what I preach! For real though, maybe allow yourself some unhealthy options, BUT only have ONE plate throughout the evening or fill up with the “healthier” options like fruits and veggies.

DIPS

During the season, I posted a blog full of dip recipes!

“When I Dip, You Dip, We Dip”

None of those are really healthy, but there are some alternatives to making them a lot less unhealthy. Two of my favorites can be found below…

Buffalo Chicken Dip

(to be honest, I typically wing my measurements)

1 block of low fat/fat free cream cheese (definitely not the healthiest, but won’t kill ya)

1 cup of plain greek yogurt

2 cups of rotisserie chicken-shredded

3/4 cup of hot sauce (I prefer Franks, and I also prefer my dip HOT)

1/2 teaspoon dried ranch dressing mix (or about half of a ranch seasoning packet)

Directions:

-Melt down cream cheese in a skillet

-Add chicken, hot sauce, greek yogurt and ranch seasoning

-Heat until bubbles or pour into a pan and cook on 350 for about 10-15 minutes

-Adding a sprinkle of cheese is optional

Spinach Artichoke Dip

1 block of low fat/fat free cream cheese

1/2 cup of plain greek yogurt

1/4 cup of parmesan cheese

2 cloves of garlic-minced

10 oz. frozen spinach (thawed and drained)

10 oz. artichoke quarters (drained)

1/4 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions:

-Preheat oven to 375

-Blend cream cheese, greek yogurt, parmesan cheese and garlic cloves in a mixer

-Add in spinach and artichokes, making sure both are drained

-Pour into a pan and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese

-Bake for 20-30 minutes

Serve both dips with Pita Chips or carrots or celery!

Finger Foods

Bacon Wrapped Avocado Fries

Package of turkey bacon (I get mine at Aldi’s)

2 large avocados, sliced into fry sizes

Directions:

-Preheat oven to 425

-Wrap fry cut avocado pieces with bacon, tuck the one end

-Bake for 5-10 minutes or until bacon is crisp

Recipe and photo from Kirbie’s Cravings

Deviled Eggs

I have a sick obsession with deviled eggs. One time I had like 12 in a sitting…don’t suggest doing that especially if they aren’t made like the recipe below. Also if anyone has tricks for making the perfect hard boiled egg PLEASE tell me.

12 hard boiled eggs

1/2 cup of plain greek yogurt

2 tsp dijon mustard

1/2 tsp of pepper

1/4 tsp of salt

paprika to garnish (dill is good too!)

Directions:

-Boil the eggs of course

*I have zero tips on this because mine never turn out perfectly

-Peel eggs and cut like a hot dog bun

-Mix all greek yogurt, mustard, yolks and seasonings (not paprika) together

-Add mixture to egg whites and sprinkle with paprika

Desserts

Apple Nachos

Sliced apples (your preference, but I’d use granny smith)

1/2 cup of all natural peanut butter

Semi sweet chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips

Chopped nuts

Plain popcorn

Directions:

-Slice Apples and lay out on plate like nachos

-Melt down peanut butter

-Drizzle peanut butter on apples

-Sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts onto apples

-Sprinkle popcorn onto apples

Banana Split Bites

Bananas

Pineapple cubes

Strawberries

Melted dark chocolate

Chopped Nuts

Skewers

Directions:

-Cut all fruit into pieces

-Place the pineapple, banana and strawberry onto skewer

-Place in freezer for 10 minutes

-Melt down dark chocolate

-Dip fruit in chocolate then into nuts

-Place skewers on wax paper

-Allow to chocolate to harden

Time to CEE Change: Intro

Remember that post about getting back into working out and putting my health first? Perhaps you didn’t read it or perhaps you need a refresher. If either of those are the case, click the link below to read more.

“She Believed She Could So She Did”

Throughout that post, I spoke of my fitness journey over the last 5 years. The highs, the lows, and everything else in between.  At the time, four long months ago, I wanted the following Monday to be the last Monday where I said, “I’ll start next Monday.” Unfortunately, I’m here to tell everyone: I continued to say “next Monday” since then. I also found every excuse in the book to not workout. If I’m being honest, I simply didn’t want to workout and as much as I’m aware of how important it is to eat clean; everything unhealthy sounded much better.

What has changed? Well, y’all may think I am crazy and not see what I see, but ultimately I have noticed a change in pictures and that’s enough to open my eyes and realize that if I don’t make changes to my life, it will only get worse and be much harder to correct as I get older and life gets crazier.

With the New Year, I am sure y’all have made your list of resolutions. I always find it silly how we wait until the start of the new year to change, but I am 100% guilty of doing so. If you are anything like myself, you put on your list to workout more, eat better, etc. I’ve decided to start this “fitness series” to show you that when you struggle you are not alone, healthy recipes can be delicious, and working out truly is the best medicine.

I have to make it clear: I am no fitness expert. I’m just your average girl trying to live her best life, while looking and feeling her absolute best. When it comes down to it, YOU have to want it.  I can give you some personal testimony or perhaps even direct you to some people who are  “experts,” but if you’re not willing to put in the work, nothing will change in your life.  Self explanatory, right? If you know me personally, you know I am a very sensitive person, and very easily jump to my defense when given “tough love.” (I consider my ability to admit my flaws one of my best qualities HA!) However, I want to make it clear: this series will be raw and the real deal.  I’m not going to sugar coat my struggles, and I plan on celebrating my triumphs! I encourage all of you to do the same in your own personal fitness journey.

I am going to be sharing my own personal progress, tips, information, recipes, and mini workouts. Some of the workouts may be longer than others or may just be what I did that day.  I am currently doing a hybrid that consist of interval training, running, and Insanity Max: 30. This workout schedule is my “pre-half marathon training.” I won’t be sharing the entire plan because my trainer has worked hard on personalizing my schedule to best fit MY needs. Everyone is different, and everyone needs to do what is best for them. If something like this intrigues you, I’d be more than happy to direct you to my trainer! This series is not for any specific kind of workouts, diets, or lifestyles.  I truly support any and all kinds of healthy living. I hope this series brings you some motivation and the desire to live your best happy and healthy life! If you have any questions, comments, additional information, etc. please do not be afraid to reach out to me! You can reach me by my contact page or on my Instagram @imwith.thecoach.

It’s time to CEE CHANGE AND get CIERRAIOUSLY motivated!

Be My Guest

WOOF. It’s been a minute since I’ve posted.  I apologize for this! December was an insane month for me. I was traveling for work, and Coach was off recruiting.  A lot of things hit me full circle, and left me feeling anxious, lonely, and depressed.  Thankfully, I am feeling much better at this time, and am continuing to work towards a better me. I have a few to thank for this, but especially Jessica.

I’ve spoke of my bestest friend Jessica before on the blog. We have been friends since I was in 8th grade…10 or 11 years now? We actually met on good ole’ MySpace. Pretty sure she made my Top 3 instantly because it didn’t take long for us to became such good friends.  You ever find someone who is like the exact same as you, yet different? Yeah, that’s me and Jess, and the reason we call each other Twin.

Since starting this blog and my Rodan and Field’s business, Jessica has been my backbone.  She’s an encourager, do-er, and a believer in others.  I truly can say without her, this blog or my business would be nonexistent. Jess continues to be a positive impact on all my doings. Because of that I decided it’d be a great idea to “interview” her on her own business!  Jessica is a photographer based in Erie, PA.  She really is the beauty behind majority of my post!  Probably within a year or two of becoming friends she began to take photos of me and the beauty of the world. I continue to be in complete awe over how much her talent has evolved. She unquestionably is a total BOSS BABE!

4E39808A-D6DE-4A1B-A781-0221B542EEE9

Can you tell our readers about yourself?

Hi friends! I’m Jessica. I’m a wedding and portrait photographer who serves the wild at heart, the head over heels in love, and those who genuinely enjoy living each of their days as if it were their last. I really freaking love my dog and cuss words are basically my go to, all the time.

What inspired you to begin taking photos?

You. Hahaha. No seriously. I could get into this, but I’m SURE you’ve got some old photos to show the world. 😉

Who has impacted you the most since starting your business?

This question certainly can go two different ways! My friends and family are the ones who have impacted me the most, the ones who keep me going on the shitty days, and they’re there to celebrate with me when something really awesome happens! Those who are closest to me truly know what it’s like for me to run a business and I think I owe them all the thanks in the world, especially when I’m having full mental breakdowns.

When it comes to a professional impact, I’d have to say that Katelyn James and Amy & Jordan Demos are two educators who have truly impacted the way I operate and look at my business! I have learned so much valuable information from them and that’s truly impacted me for the better.

000BD5FA-CF33-4A54-B1A1-CF376DAB6994

What is the best part of being a photographer/business owner?

Napping whenever I feel like it. 😉

All jokes aside, it’s the fact that I am able to serve others. I love capturing a legacy and freezing a moment in time for people to cherish for years to come. A lot of people think owning a business seems like a fairy tale but I can assure you there are tough days. There are days where I feel lonely, question if I’m cut out for all of this, and cry with my laptop in my lap. But, all it takes is that one person to tell you they believe in you and that’s what makes it all worth it. At the end of the day I’m able to chase my American dream and I can’t even believe I’m this damn lucky.

10357EF2-C6D5-4E60-866F-8B7C5C07AF69

You are your own boss. How do you prioritize your time and stay disciplined?

This is something I struggle with as do a lot of business owners that work from home! I’m going to treat my day to day like a 7-8 hour work day and ensure that I structure everything as I would working for someone else! I think this way it will discipline me enough to know I have only a set amount of time to get my things done but if I wanted to take my dog for a walk, I thankfully have the freedom to do that!

You get to make your own schedule, so when you aren’t work, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I love getting lost in a good book. I’ll spend hours on the couch, tuning everything out around me and not putting it down until I’m finished!

What is your greatest achievement?

Serving others through photography. That within itself is an amazing achievement and I can’t believe that everyday I get to do what I truly love.

(Oh, and perhaps she is too humble to mention that she was named “Erie’s Choice 2017”  in Photography!)

80BD6480-DF1D-4E3A-B301-450D8A1B9215

What is the biggest challenge to starting a business?

The biggest challenge in starting a business would certainly be growing a clientele but it’s clearly not impossible! I am a firm believer if you start your business for all the right reasons and do everything from your heart, your clientele will come. Your tribe is out there, it might just take some time to find them!

8C6EBE28-C6B5-4DDD-8AED-7AF3106B4F93

Fear is a big part of why others don’t go after their dreams, what can you tell our readers about overcoming “fear” and truly going for it?

Fear is the biggest black cloud and in order to overcome it I believe you need to surround yourself with positivity! I know that’s much easier said than done but if you truly want something then manifesting it in a positive light is the route to go. I also think preparation is key which could be anywhere from making sure you’re financially able to go for it to having the right support system!

What would you tell someone looking to start a business or new hobby

Just do it. Go for it and don’t even look back. Don’t question what happens if you fail, just do it. I am a firm believer that we’ve only got so many years on this planet and you’ll never know if you don’t try. Believe me, it’s so scary but it’s also incredibly rewarding. I started out by saving as much money as I could and investing in my business while I worked a full time job! It was a pain in the ass but it created a safety net for me and also allowed me to pay all of my equipment off before starting as a full time business owner.

If you want to take on a new hobby, I also believe you should just go for it! It will create a positive escape and might even result in you owning a business someday!

10 Christmas Gift Ideas for Him

Holy Moly! I can’t believe Christmas is in ELEVEN days.  I am seriously in shock over how fast this year has flown by.  Time truly does fly when you’re having fun!

With the expenses that have come with moving, and the need to save money for our future, Coach and I are not exchanging gifts this year. However, I wanted to give ya’ll a few ideas on what to get that special someone in your life! The ideas that I have come up with are especially perfect for a coach but great for all men.

1.)Rodan and Fields Products

Did you really think I’d not include my favorite skincare products?! Rodan and Fields is not just for woman.  Whether they want “the perfect shave” or to hide those tired eyes from long work hours, this stuff is legit.  Other products that would be great for a coach  or any male would be our sunscreen, lip shield for chapped lips or skin care regimens.

2.) Cold Weather Gear

If you’re lucky enough to be down south, ignore this one. Cold weather gear for us is a necessity.  Seriously though, we went from one cold and snowy state to another.  Ah, forever dreaming of the day Coach gets a job down south. Some items to consider are hats, gloves, leggings or long sleeve shirts.  We are big fans of Under Armor apparel.  Dick’s Sporting Goods, Under Armor or Field and Stream would be your best bet for finding what exactly you need.

3.) Mugs/Tumblers

Coach drinks a disturbing amount of coffee.  He is a bigger fan of tumblers, but mugs are nice to have on the weekends when we are enjoying our Sunday brunch. Some of my favorite places to purchase mugs are TJ Maxx, Marshalls or Target.  Blue Feel Creations also has cute ones.  I’m sure your man would prefer to keep those at home! In regards to tumblers, Yeti’s are always a good idea. We personally do not own Yeti’s, but I know many people who love theirs.  I purchased an off-brand tumbler, and according to Coach, it works just as well.  My mom claims she did a test with my cousins Yeti and her Walmart Tumbler, and she won.

4.) Leadership Books

Self Development is important for everyone, but especially those in a leadership role.  Below are two great books for a coach:

The Score Takes Care of Itself by Brian Walsh

Legacy by James Kerr

5.) Watch

A fitness tracker will tell you the time, but some men prefer a more sophisticated look.  Stores to find nice ones could be department stores, jewelry stores or TJ Maxx/Marshalls.

6.) Ipad

Coach recently purchased an Ipad.  He insisted that it was necessary for recruiting.  He is able to show team highlights and input recruits information into Front Rush. It will be nice to have for away games as well. He’ll be able to watch movies or read a book on it.

7.) Fitness Tracker

Whether it’s a Fitbit, Apple Watch or Garmin, this is a great gift idea for a guy.  I know Coach especially loves his Fitbit Blaze. He likes how it tells time, counts his steps, and tracks his continuous heart rate.  If other coaches have one, it could create some healthy competition on the staff, and of course, it is a great motivator.  I remember when Coach was coaching in North Dakota and coming home from camp one day.  His step count was over 24,000!

8.) Wireless Headphones

If your man shares an office or enjoys working out, these are super convenient. I personally haven’t used them, but asked Santa some!

9.) Shoes

Coach loves getting new shoes!  Whether it’s for working out, shoes for Gameday, nice boots for the cold weather …shoes are always a good idea.

10.) Sports Tickets

If you’re purchasing these for a coach, it may be difficult to get them for a game during football season considering their work schedule, but if your team doesn’t make the playoffs you may be able to score NFL or D1 tickets.  Coach and I love going to football games! We’ve attended three Buffalo Bill games and two Steeler games together. Hockey, Baseball, etc. are also great events that your men may enjoy attending! We get our tickets off of StubHub or TicketsNow.

My “Why”

If you follow my blog, you may remember my post about Rodan and Fields Lash Boost.

I Got 99 Problems, But My Lashes Ain’t 1

D50168E7-D41F-4E25-96E0-E7FDE437B069

As the first sentence said, I made it clear that I was not a R+F Consultant, however I planned on considering it once life slowed down a bit. Life hasn’t slowed down, like what so ever. Coach is gone recruiting, the holidays are in full effect, and I am traveling for work a lot right now. The list goes on. Ultimately, after being asked if my lashes were real on several occasions, and instead of just sending them to my amazing upline, I decided perhaps I truly could run with this and make something out of it. I mean what’s one more thing?!

I’m writing today to get a little raw on the backbone of WHY I decided to become a Rodan+Fields Consultant. It comes down to three reasons:

Fear of Failure•I love my skin•Finances

9E7BD58F-FC45-4FFA-8AF3-DC17E8ADB7DF

I have allowed the fear of failure to dictate every decision in my life. I originally went to college to become a Speech Language Pathologist, but switched my major because I got a 3.2 my second semester and feared I wouldn’t get into graduate school; I thought, why take the chance of going to school for four years with a degree I couldn’t use without a Masters? So I switched my major to Rehabilitation and Human Services with plans to attend graduate school for Occupational Therapy, but I didn’t shadow many OT’s because I didn’t want to do an internship somewhere where I wouldn’t get paid (will come back to finances later), AND I figured I’d do horrible on the GRE’s so probably wouldn’t get into graduate school. Hmm … let’s see what else, I thought for a second maybe I’ll become a State Cop (lets all laugh for a second at the thought of this), well even when I was in the best shape of my life, I figured I couldn’t pass the PT test so decided it wouldn’t be a good idea to even try; I was too afraid of failing. If you haven’t caught on to how absolutely ridculious all of this sounds, even as I write these I am getting annoyed with myself. Unfortunately, this is how my mind has worked for the past however many YEARS. My upline and I had talked multiple times about becoming a consultant, but I kept pushing it off. After referring 5+ people to her, and someone telling me they’d purchase Lash Boost on the spot if it meant their lashes would look like mine, I decided to throw away the idea of failure and for once, take a leap of faith! Although this is something I continue to struggle with, I must say that I am BEYOND BLESSED to be surrounded by so many amazing friends and family who continue to push me. Even before I launched this blog, I thought about backing out of it. I couldn’t be anymore thankful for the guidance and love I have received from so many people when it comes to this blog and now my new business.

atychphobia (n.) fear of failure; fear of not being good enough

I LOVE MY SKIN. For the most part I have always been lucky to have “nice” skin. There have been a few times throughout the years were I have had massive breakouts or at least, what seemed massive to me. I was beyond self-conscious when my face was breaking out. I bought new makeup and poured on as much as I could to hide the issues. I tried various things (NOT R+F because I knew nothing about it at the time, but I now know we do have an awesome regimen line to help with these issues), but ultimately changing my birth control is what helped the most. I’ll also give some credit to Shakeology. That stuff is magical. Thankfully, things have been going well for a few years now when it comes to my skin. Because of that, I knew R+F was the right decision. I am going to be 25 soon, and as much as that is still “young” I feel that NOW is the time to invest in my skin. Life is going to continue to happen. I will get pregnant and experience breakouts, blah blah blah…but when it comes down to it, I know that I’ll always be able to fall back on these incredible products that help THOUSANDS of people every single day.

Anyone who knows me knows how critical I am of myself. Not only do I struggle with the fear of failure, but probably even more so with my self-esteem. I am at a point where it’s been almost a year going back on forth on programs and eating habits, but I just can’t get my motivation to be where it once was. I used to love it, but truthfully it’s a chore to me now, and even worse I simply just don’t care to do any of it at all. Well, I do care but I feel like I am at the bottom of a deep hole, and I have so much work to do to get out that I don’t even know where to start. When it comes to R+F though,  it’s one of those things that I have continued to do and have seen actual results. so I crave it and believe in it so highly. Obviously, one can not compare skincare to fitness results, but in a way they truly do go together. The more you workout and eat right the better you’ll look and feel. Because of R+F, I am so confident in my skin. I just need to work on feeling that way about the rest of my body as well.

“It’s a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you’re ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything. There is almost no such thing as ready.  There is only now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any.”

Last but not least, everyone’s favorite topic: MONEY.  I grew up getting pretty much everything I wanted. I can’t ever remember being disappointed on Christmas morning or being told no. Truthfully, I knew or eventually realized the financial struggle my parents were experiencing. While in 3rd grade my parents got divorced. My mom was making close to nothing, and my dad was severely hurt in an accident. Although I was given all I could ever want, I do remember not having what others had. That’s honestly still the case. Ultimately, it’s made me into the hardworking, strong, independent woman I am today. There are many things I have purchased over the past decade that I know others have received because of family support. That’s awesome, and although I sometimes become bitter of those who have that privledge, I know that my mom worked her a$$ off to provide for us; because of her, I recognize what’s truly important in this world (TOTALLY NOT saying those who have support don’t recognize this!!!!).

I like to think I do well with saving money, but can admit I have spent LOTS of money on this things I didn’t need. I was lucky to graduate college and get a great job. When I moved to ND, I landed another well-paying job. However, the move back to PA wiped away nearly all of my savings, which is difficult to experience. Coach has been very supportive, but of course, I pay my stuff and he pays his. I went without work for two months. Most say, “well, hey at least you were lucky to have that cushion when you moved,” and they are correct. But building back that savings has been a struggle. I want to be married and have babies in the next five years, so if I can help others while making money, woohoo! I intend to save all of my earnings for our future.

When it comes down to it, if I can do this and earn some cash, great. If not, that’s okay too, but I hope at the very least I can help change someone’s life because their lashes are bomb.com or their skin has improved drastically. I am working on improving my self-esteem, and I’d never ever want someone to feel down on themselves. I think y’all are beautiful! Rodan and Fields just keeps you looking good.
